Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 5, 2026
1. Overview
Reclaim ("the App") is a free Android application that blocks internet access for distracting apps so you can focus on what matters. This privacy policy explains what data the App handles and how.
2. Data We Collect
None. Reclaim does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal or usage data. The App operates entirely on your device with no external servers.
3. How It Works — VPN Service Declaration
Reclaim uses Android's official VpnService API to create a local on-device firewall. When you activate a blocking profile or start blocking, internet access is cut for your selected apps — right on your device. This is the same technique used by well-known firewall apps on Android.
- Reclaim is NOT a traditional VPN — it does not change your IP address or location
- It does NOT route your traffic to any remote or external server
- It does NOT tunnel your data through any third-party server
- It does NOT collect, transmit, or share any of your network data
- It creates a local-only connection on your device that acts as a gatekeeper — blocking internet traffic for selected apps while leaving all other apps unaffected
- Because VpnService is used, Android may show a 🔑 VPN icon in your status bar while blocking is active — this is expected behavior required by Android for local traffic filtering and does not mean your data is being sent anywhere
4. Data Storage
All settings, blocked app lists, profiles, and usage statistics are stored locally on your device. This data never leaves your device.
5. Third-Party Services
The App does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking services. No external servers are used in any capacity.
6. Network Activity
Reclaim performs zero network activity. All app blocking is handled locally through Android's VpnService API. No data is sent to or received from any server. The App does not make any HTTP requests, API calls, or network connections of any kind.
7. Permissions
The App requires the following permissions:
- VpnService — to create a local on-device firewall that blocks internet access for selected apps (no data is routed externally)
- Query All Packages — to display the list of installed apps for blocking
- Receive Boot Completed — to restore scheduled profiles after device restart
- Foreground Service — to keep the VPN active while in use
- Post Notifications — to show the required foreground service notification
8. Children's Privacy
The App does not collect any data from anyone, including children under 13. It is safe for use by all ages.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
